2006 Christel House Open, another year of success - Charity tournament reaches $1 million mark

(Indianapolis, Indiana) – When it comes to charity golf tournaments, the 2006 Christel House Open, presented by RCI, takes it to a unique, global level. Now in its fourth year, this one-of-a-kind golf event featured more participating courses than any other one-day charity golf tournament in the world. Global proceeds from the 25 tournament sites are expected to surpass $1 million for the first time in the event’s history.

On June 12, 2006, golfers at more than twenty courses; located in nine countries on six different continents and
spanning twenty-two time zones; participated in the Christel House Open. Over 2,200 participants teed off for one
charitable cause – the children of Christel House. Two remaining tournaments will take place in India before year end.
Legendary golf course designer Pete Dye and his wife Alice were the Guests of Honor at the Christel House Open
Indianapolis tournament, which took place at Broadmoor Country Club. Thirty-two foursomes at Broadmoor Country
Club had the opportunity to tee off with the Dyes and pose for photos.
 

100% of proceeds will benefit the children of Christel House – an international charity focused on helping children
around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, contributing members of their societies. Christel House learning centers are located in India, Mexico, South Africa, Venezuela and the United States. These centers provide education, nutrition, health care, vocational training, and other programs for children. A global event of this magnitude would not be possible without the support and dedication of hundreds of volunteers,
tournament hosts and sponsors.
