CEO Franz Hanning Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Wyndham Vacation Ownership

Franz Hanning, president and CEO of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, is celebrating his 25th anniversary with the company on Thursday, May 24. During his tenure with the company, Wyndham Vacation Ownership has become the world’s largest vacation ownership business as measured by the number of vacation ownership resorts, vacation ownership units and owners of vacation ownership interests. Today, Hanning leads a worldwide staff of more than 16,000 employees. 

After joining the company, then known as Fairfield Communities, Inc., in 1982 as a sales representative, Mr. Hanning quickly rose through the company, holding a number of progressive sales positions. In 1996, Mr. Hanning accepted the position of Regional Vice President of Sales for the Myrtle Beach and Williamsburg area, which brought him to Orlando. One year later, he assumed responsibility as Vice President of Sales for all of Fairfield’s 20 sales locations. From 1998–2001, Mr. Hanning served as Chief Operating Officer for Fairfield Resorts and in 2001, was named President and CEO of Fairfield Resorts upon its acquisition by Cendant Corporation. In 2006, Wyndham Vacation Ownership was formed after Wyndham Worldwide’s spin-off from Cendant Corporation.

American Resort Development Association (ARDA) president & CEO Howard Nusbaum recognizes Mr. Hanning’s achievement.
