MYSTIC DUNES SHINES AS HOST TO AJGA MEDICUS PRESEASON JUNIOR GOLF

April 30, 2007 by Timeshare News

Celebration, Fla.The weather may not have been up to par for the American Junior Golf Association’s Medicus Preseason Junior Tournament at Mystic Dunes Golf Club recently. But the golf course sure proved to be, according to organizers and competitors alike.

“Mystic Dunes Golf Club held up extremely well under the AJGA’s championship states,” AJGA Tournament Director Stephen Shapin.

Mitchell Gray of Florence , SC., Saturday’s leader at Mystic Dunes, was awarded medalist honors after Sunday’s final round was cancelled due to severe weather.

The leaders all agreed that the combination of difficult driving holes and highly contoured green complexes made accuracy off the tee and creativity around the putting surface essential skills in scoring well. Add to this the wind that increased throughout the event, and these top-fight juniors had a great test at Mystic Dunes.

“Mystic Dunes Golf Club is very proud of its association with the American Junior Golf Association in the support of junior golf,” states Melissa Suttles, Mystic Dunes General Management. “The players were able to enjoy a practice round on Friday which gave them a chance to see one of the best courses in Central Florida and also to plot their strategies. The tournament was a success even though the weather changed on Sunday.”
