Ramada Phillip Island’s three new penguin mascots have been officially named, after resort guests submitted their ideas as part of a three month long competition. The three ‘little penguins’ were adopted by Ramada Phillip Island, managed by Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, as part of The Penguin Foundation’s sponsorship program.
The resort received a number of creative suggestions, but after much deliberation, the judges chose Harvey, Phlippa and Little Boots as the perfect penguin names, based on creativity, impact and appeal.
The adopt-a-penguin program is in line with Wyndham’s ‘green philosophy’, which includes a number of environmentally friendly programs and initiatives at its resorts across the South Pacific. At Ramada Phillip Island, guests are encouraged to conserve water and energy, recycle, and get involved with local conservation programs during their stay.
The Penguin Foundation, based on Phillip Island, raises vital funds for penguin protection and research, and also rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured penguins. Approximately 32,000 little penguins call Phillip Island home, and the famous penguin parade has become a must-see tourist experience.
“Ramada Phillip Island is delighted to support The Penguin Foundation through corporate sponsorship, as it is a cause very close to our heart,” said Dawn Gleeson, Business Development Manager of Ramada Phillip Island.
Both Ramada Phillip Island guests and vacation owners in the WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham entered the competition. The winning guests received a two-night stay for two adults and two children at Ramada Phillip Island, including breakfast daily, a three-park pass to Phillip Island Nature Parks and an adventure experience with OutThere Outdoor, valued at $719. The winning vacation owner received nearly $4,000 worth of ‘vacation credits’, which are used as currency in the WorldMark South Pacific Club to holiday across its 24 South Pacific resorts.
