Shell Vacations Hospitality Selects Top Resort Management Team

Shell Vacations Hospitality, Inc. recently named the winner of its annual competition for the top management team within its company.
 

Under the leadership of Karin Merzenich, General Manager, The Inn at the Opera in San Francisco, California was awarded Shell Vacations Hospitality’s Management Team Appreciation Award. This is the most prestigious recognition possible for any of the management teams at the 23 resorts managed by Shell Vacations Hospitality.
 

According to Susan C. Kelley, CHA and Senior Vice President of Shell Hospitality, “In making this important annual selection, we review internal comment card scores, exchange company ratings, results from employee surveys, and compliance with our internal Shell Vacations Hospitality standards. Also considered are areas of improvement that have occurred during the year and the resort’s year-end financial results. The Inn at the Opera had an exemplary 2006 and far exceeded our expectations in all areas. We applaud their entire team. The resort has been a RCI Gold Crown resort for the past several years, recently received the same award for 2007 as well as achieving Five Star status from Interval International.”

Merzenich, who has been with The Inn at The Opera for the past seven years and previously at the Shell Vacations Hospitality-managed Donatello in San Francisco for about four years, manages a team of over 30 full and part-time resort personnel at the 48-unit European styled property in downtown San Francisco. A hospitality professional with more than 15 years’ experience, she is delighted that her management team was chosen for this award. Ms. Merzenich is a member of the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau and the San Francisco Hotel Council; she has also served as a Managing Agent on the Inn at the Opera Owners Association Board of Directors for several years representing Shell Vacations Hospitality.

Says Merzenich, “It is exciting to be recognized with this award, especially since we are one of the smallest resorts within our system. We have a tremendously strong management team as well as dedicated and hard working employees. We all feel that we work for a caring supportive company that allows us the flexibility to do our jobs as we determine but provides support when needed.”

In addition to Ms. Merzenich, the top management team includes Maria Perez, Executive Housekeeper, Martha Aviles, Project Coordinator, Carlos Cherney, Guest Services Manager and Juan Guerra, Director of Engineering.

During 2006, the Inn at the Opera enjoyed some major renovation, added Karin Merzenich, “We installed new granite counter tops, painted all 48 units, re-carpeted the Ovations dining room, wallpapered all bathrooms and added new linen packages. Additionally, we renovated the lobby area, re-carpeted corridors and stairwells, and wallpapered all hallways. The onsite Ovations restaurant continues to please guests with its traditional French cuisine.”
