The hotel, formerly known as the Meliá Turquesa, received a multi-million-dollar transformation to the ME by Sol Meliá concept, which features accommodations refurbished by world-renowned architect Alvaro Sans in collaboration with architectural firm Interaq, and celebrated Mexican artist, Yuri Zatarian.  Custom-made wood and stone furniture by Zatarain was etched by hand using shells and other elements to create sea-life scenes.
