Orlando-based Vacation Ownership Resort Acquires Additional Inventory

The Family of Orange Lake Resorts announced the acquisition of an additional 26 villas at Ascutney Mountain Resort in Vermont, in addition to the 34 villas purchased last year at this location. Orange Lake will also be assuming the management responsibilities of Ascutney Mountain Resort, with the exception of the ski operations, which will remain under the management of Snowdance, LLC. Orange Lake Vermont is one of four destinations owners can visit within the Family of Orange Lake Resorts through GlobalAccess®, their points-based member exchange program.

As part of the new management agreement, Orange Lake will assume front desk, housekeeping, reservations and maintenance responsibilities for the Resort, with the exception of ski operations, and will manage the sports & fitness center, which includes an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness equipment, sports courts and other recreational areas. Food and Beverage services will continue to operate under a management agreement with Snowdance, LLC until licenses are secured.

“We want to give our owners the consistent experience that they’ve come to expect at every destination within our family of resorts,” said Don Harrill, President and CEO for The Family of Orange Lake Resorts.

In 2007, Orange Lake purchased two buildings at Ascutney Mountain Resort—the 18-unit Bennington building and the 16-unit Essex building—and completed a $3 million renovation program of these units in December. Villa interiors now feature redesigned floor plans and décor, while villa exteriors are equipped with new siding and roofs. The addition of the 26-unit Windham building will add more inventory to Orange Lake’s vacation portfolio and is scheduled for renovations through spring of 2009.

Orange Lake owners and guests enjoy numerous amenity and service privileges at Ascutney Mountain Resort, including the Strong House Spa, a sport & fitness center, Alpine Cinema, nearby hiking and biking trails, the Mountainside Ski Lodge and Apres Ski, a variety of restaurants and eateries, 56 trails for alpine and cross country skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing and a ski and rental shop.

The Family of Orange Lake Resorts has evolved from a “best-kept secret” as the world’s largest single-site timeshare resort to a multi-site resort with a growing network. New resort additions in Wisconsin, Vermont and Florida were carefully selected and tailored for their owners and facilitated by a member exchange program, GlobalAccess. Orange Lake’s flagship location in Orlando was established in 1982 by Holiday Inn® Founder, Kemmons Wilson. The company plans to continue the expansion of their resort network and is actively seeking more growth opportunities to continue being the “home-away-from-home” to more than 110,000 owners from all 50 U.S. states and more than 120 countries.
