Vacation Lodging Trends Suggest Strong 2011

The data show that that demand for the leisure lodging increased significantly in February 2011 versus the same period in 2010.  “Consumer demand is rising, and conversion continues to strengthen in major online channels,” said Steve Reich, Senior Vice President of , Inc.

LeisureLink’s Vacation Lodging Demand Index showed a healthy year over year increase of 15%, as consumers gain confidence and are again willing to spend on .  “We are finally seeing strength in fly-to markets, such as ,” said Reich. “Consumers are committing to longer, more expensive trips, and this is a very healthy development.”

LeisureLink also released a snapshot of its conversion index, which measures leisure property conversion rates across the LeisureLink network.  Results for February 2011 were 29 basis points higher than the same period in 2010. “An increase in conversion coupled with an increase in demand is further evidence of economic recovery as consumers increase their vacation spending.  Vacation Lodging suppliers are major beneficiaries of this recovery, especially those with condo-style lodging that appeals to consumers looking for good value,” added Reich.
